So as a Follow up to People Hinting
So I pose this question to the world as more of a rhetorical question, but I suppose that if you happen to have any real insight into an answer I suppose that would be appreciated.
Why the hell can’t people just tell you something instead of trying to be subtle about things?
More specifically, women doing this more than guys, and even more specifically in the world of dating in general.
If you are not interested in going out, then just tell me that! Don’t pretend to try to make plans with me and have them fall through, and don’t tell me “yeah, I am definitely still interested” if you really are not. Just because you canceled some plans we had one weekend, that doesn’t mean I am going to take that as a hint that you are not interested in getting together because I especially won’t take it as a hint if I ask you about rescheduling and you say you need to check your work schedule but you do want to reschedule.
Sorry, but your statement of interest trumps any hint you might be trying to give me.
Also, in this dating world, I am not a fool, I know that you are in contact with more than one person, but if you meet someone, and you want to explore that with them, then it would be really really really nice to update those other people who you have been talking to about your change of situation.
You women need to realize that men have a fine line to walk with regards to dating and trying to find someone to date. We struggle with trying to find a nice even middle of the road for communication where we will be in communication with you enough to make sure you know we are interested in you, but we also need to make sure that we do not over communicate and freak you out and make it look like we are obsessed with you, even though we have never met.
Honestly, many of you make that really tough with “subtle” hints instead of just speaking your mind.
We are grown men, and no matter what Colonel Jessup may have said, we can handle the truth.

My Time in Mexico
Well, I have spent a week in Mexico and it was interesting to say the least.
I have discovered that immersion does work, as long as you have some sort of background, I was actually able to remember quite a bit of the Spanish I learned while in school that I normal cannot even come close to remembering, but since I was in it, it just kind of came to me which was nice, not perfect, but respectable.
My room in the hotel, was satisfactory, very small, but it did not need to be big to do it’s job, a bed, a counter along the window for a desk, a TV and a bathroom.
The bathroom was interesting, it had no tub like most hotels, but it had a shower, with a real door on it, a clear glass door at that instead of a frosted door or something else. Also, the toilet was interesting as well, the flush was attached to the wall behind it and there were 2 options, a light flush and a heavy flush. I am going to assume you can figure out the purposes of each.
Food was good, I had a decent wide variety while here, some tacos, some regular dishes, and I stuck mostly to chicken since I can be rather picky about my other meats at times, so chicken is usually the safest.
The company I was at is nice, very nice people and a comfortable environment. The one really neat thing was how they deal with lunch, anyone who works in the office versus out in the shops, gets to go to the “cantina” every day for lunch where the company provides them a lunch as part of their salary. The food was really good and the options and extra nice as well, each day was a chicken or beef option with a different type of rice and 2 kinds of soup as well. Then on the tables there are corn tortillas and bread, as well as a small salad bar with fresh cut fruit. I had Jamaican Water while there, it is made from a Jamaica flower and it similar to a fruit punch like flavor, only not so, if that makes sense.
Taxi drivers are insane, but I think that goes for anywhere in the world. The only gripe I have is that not a single taxi I was in had any seat belts in the back seat for me!
Walmart, Home Depot, McDonalds, Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, Burger King, Dominos all have a good strong presence in Mexico, not sure if that is good or bad though.
I watched tv most nights since I was told not to venture too far from the hotel, and I was able to catch some of “Latin American Idol” and wowsers…. the language doesn’t really matter, bad singers are bad singers no matter what the language.
There was a mall right next to the hotel, pretty typical like most in the US except for the Ferris wheel, and mini roller coaster in it, as well as a lot racing track for people to use. The only 2 major differences were the smoking inside the mall and in the food court, which is pretty non-existent in the US(at least near me) and the number of people, not teenagers, but people in general hanging out and making out with someone in the mall. To each their own I guess!
ummmmm there is probably more but I forget what….
and I did buy tequila! I have 4 bottles to share with people and 3 of them are mezcal, 2 with the WORM in it!

So I am normally a rather laid back person, and I think anyone who knows me can agree with that, as is Lisa my friend who got tickets for us to go to the Dave Matthews Show at Fenway tonight.
Well, we may be laid back but don’t fuck with Lisa when she is trying to enjoy a show.
Yes, we are talking to you mr fat ass sweaty man who decided to take off his shirt and swing it around. You were asked nicely to stop swinging it around because you kept hitting lisa with it and she did not appreciate getting smacked with your nasty T shirt while she is trying to dance and enjoy the show.
So yes, I did go inform security about you and they warned you, they should have tossed you right then and there, but they didn’t, and you hit her again a couple more times.
Then she turned around pissed off and took the t shirt from you, and then I took it from her. Yes, it all would have been find and you could have gotten your T shirt back at the end of the show, but no, you had to be the typical drunk asshole and threaten violence. No, leaning over and whispering to me that you wanted your shirt back or you were “Gonna open up house and clean up” wasn’t really anything that was bothering me, although I did put my glasses in my pocket to prevent them from getting broken when you did decide to be an idiot.
I really think you need to go take some lessons on how to fight someone, first of all, don’t be such a pussy and take a blind shot at someone, and if you are going to take a cheap shot at someone from behind, at least learn to actually hit them, you barely grazed me! I do have a lump, but you practically missed!
Luckily for you I didn’t throw a punch, even though I could have thrown many of them, simply because I wanted to continue to enjoy the show and not have to leave.
She really is not someone you want to be fucking with at this point, if you had not been nasty disgusting human being, chances are you probably would have literally had your balls ripped from your body. You actually looked scared(I would have bene if I were you) when she was standing on the chair and screaming at you after the cheap shots you took.
No wonder some people have such a negative attitude about people from boston and the drunk assholes that exist at concerts….
and I mean this in the nicest way possible, but if you are fat, chances are you know you are fat, and honestly – please do us all 2 favors – buy clothes that actually fit and keep them on while in public!!!
On another night, I liked the show a lot, and it was fun, they even learned Sweet Caroline for everyone to sing along with!
RIP Grandmama

Well the longtime expected and inevitable happened last night.
I received a call while I was on my way to the Dallas/Fort Worth airport from my mother letting me know that I may need to take some time off from work soon in order to attend to family business dealing with the death of my grandmother, she was sick in the nursing home, fluid in the lungs, and they were giving her morphine for the pain. She was not expected to make it through this time like she had in the past.
I am sad but at the same time I am not devastated about it since it was something that almost all of us have been expecting to happen for awhile now.
A little bit about my grandmother, she was just past her 101st birthday when she passed on. She lived a hell of a long life and was an amazing woman.
She has 5 children, and lost her husband while the children were still young so that put her in charge of providing for the family.
So back to work she went. She was a grade school teacher before she had children and she went back to teaching after the death of her husband in the mid 1950’s. She then taught until the late 1970’s when she retired.
She was very active as she got older, she lived on her own until her 90’s and she drove her own car until then too, and she was not the typical old blue hair that you all know so well, she drove normally.
She was a great woman, a great mother, a great teacher, a great grandmother, and someone who’s life, accomplishments, and personality can be admired by any and all who knew her.
I know she had a good life and she knows she had a good life, and for all of us who knew her, loved her, and had our lives affected by her are better people because of her, and those us who knew her will always remember her and try to emulate those qualities which she had that were so special.
I’m Baaaack
Didja miss me?!?!?
So yes, in case you were completely unaware I was in Ireland for the past week. I was on vacation with my sister, mother, and my mother’s friend. It was an interesting trip to say the least.
Driving on the left was fun and entertaining, although not quite as much as the road speed limits, 80 km/hr was the speed limit on many roads, some of which had tons of blind corners and are barely wide enough for 1 car let alone 2 cars going in opposite directions!!
We were up in the middle of nowhere at the Renvyle House Hotel, we stayed in one of the Time Share Condo units, I liked it and I am sure it would normally be a wonderful place in the months of May through Early September, however in March it is pretty nasty up there.
We had some crappy weather, rain, overcast, wind, cold, as well as some great weather which was sunny, cool, and only slightly windy. I definitely want to go back during warmer months and do more exploring, we barely covered our little corner in the mid west coast of Ireland let alone the rest of the island nation.
I think 3 or 4 weeks with a mountain bike and good weather would be an awesome trip.
The New Year
Posted by nedster in Annoucements, Stuff, Work on 2006/01/01
And so the New Year begins…. and the previous one certainly went out in an interesting fashion!!
So this new year begins a new phase, plans, changes, new ideas and new goals.
A possible return to the old standby who has always been there for me, or pherhaps a new adventure into the world which I went to school for. We will know soon enough.
The driving is great, and the couriering was awesome money, but it is not an easy life and I think my butt is beginning to not like me very much for all the sitting.
I shall be getting in shape, I have spent too long ignoring my own personal health and will be going back to a regular system of working out, eating much better, and definitely cutting the Soda out of my diet, I started this before the new year though and am almost tolerant of Diet Coke at the moment, but more sparkling water is in my future to say the least!
To friends, to family, to everyone, it will be a great year, onward, upward, let’s see where we end up!!
